Green & Lean: Kale Smoothie
Seeing how fitness is on everyone’s mind nowadays, I’ve decided to share my recipe for a green smoothie that doesn’t taste like grass after all. Kale may sound like a no-go for some of you, but let me tell you that it’s extremely healthy and a brilliant booster for your body. There’s a reason why it’s called the Queen of Greens! Kale is a superfood full of calcium and iron and is packed with vitamin A, giving your skin a great glow and energizing you rather well. Not many people would know this but it’s a great source for Vitamin C and has as much of it as an orange does! The smoothie also incorporates other fruits like apples which are full of fibre and bananas which have high levels of calcium, increasing strength and energy. It also includes ginger which aids in digestion and boosts immunity. There are one too many benefits with this mean green smoothie, so I highly recommend this one for all you lovelies out there who are trying to get fit and in shape. Make sure you include this as a part of your breakfast to reap in all the benefits!
You will need:
1 cup raw kale leaves
1 medium sized banana
1/4 cup water
Half a lemon
A little ginger
Mint leaves to garnish
1. Chop up the kale into smaller pieces. Cut the apples into large-dice sized pieces and chop the banana as well.
2. In a blended, add the kale leaves and the water. Blend on medium till the kale leaves begin to mix with the water. Add the apples and the banana and continue to blend. Throw in a little piece of ginger and continue to mix.
3. Once you see all the ingredients come together, squeeze in half a lime and add some mint leaves to garnish your smoothie.
Try it once and see how well it works for your body. I didn’t believe it at first myself but now I can’t stop having it.
Also, in case I ever end up making extra amounts, I store it in mason jars and keep them for later. I enjoy it as a post-workout drink too. So try it and tell me what you think :)
