Summer Sipping: Watermelon Cooler


The summer heat can get to the best of us. I’m forever looking for ways to cool my body down, be it in the afternoon or post a workout. Lemonade and cucumber/mint water were always my go to drinks until I put in a little more effort and arrived at my current favourite – the watermelon cooler.

This one’s a really easy recipe. For those of you who’ve browsed through Oh No Wonder previously will know that none of my recipes take more than 30 minutes. I believe in quick, easy and delicious meals. So this is another recipe added to my favourites. Be it a girls night in or a summer brunch, this drink is sure to be loved.

(4 cups = 2 servings)

You will need:

4 cups of watermelon slices (seedless and rind removed)

juice and zest of 1 lemon

1-2 scoops lemon sorbet

1-2 cups chilled water

mint/lime/watermelon wedges to garnish


1. Take a blender and add the watermelon slices, lemon juice and zest, and lemon sorbet. Blend on medium until smooth.

2. Add the chilled water to the blend, stir well and refrigerate until serving.

3. Garnish with your preferred choice of fruits. Mint is a great cooling option.

And that’s all!

You could even add a couple shots of vodka to turn it into a summer cocktail!
