Holiday Heat: Citrus Sipping

holiday-heatcitrus-sipping

With the winter breeze being such a tease, grabbing a drink to warm yourself up is the only way to deal with the chill. And while mulled wines or a hot toddy are the known favourites, I’m here to help you whip up something slightly different — a holiday potion I swear by. It’s a lot more citrusy and makes for the perfect winter afternoon sip.

You can switch it up with any flavour of sparkling juice. My favourites are orange and apple, but there’s obviously no rules here.

Have a quick look, your inner mixologist will be mighty pleased.

(Makes 4)

You will need:

Sparkling juice (1 glass)

Spices (Star anise, cloves, cinnamon sticks)

Thyme or rosemary

Juice of 1 lemon

Juice of 1/2 grapefruit

Tangerine & grapefruit slices

Choice of spirit (I go for gin)

Method:

1. Mix the sparkling juice with the lemon & grapefruit juice. Add the gin & pour into 2 glasses.

2. Heat the dry spices on a pan on medium flame for about 30 seconds.

3. Stir in the hot spices, grapefruit & tangerine slices, and thyme/rosemary as garnish.

4. Amp it up with ice or drink as it is!

Have a wonderfully warm winter x
